Casino refuses to pay jackpot
What a crock. As if the odds aren't stacked against people enough already, now a casino is refusing to pay off a couple winners because of a 'software glitch'.
CBC News: All bets off as casino refuses to pay jackpot: "a Winnipeg casino refused to pay out more than $209,000 in slot-machine winnings"
I can understand that bugs in software happen. Heck, I write enough of them myself. Unanticipated results can even happen from overheated hardware (chips, boards and the like). Regardless, IMHO that is no reason to not payoff the winners. If you are going to have your business model based upon the use of technology, then you need to take the good with the bad. I'm willing to be the casino isn't offering to give previous users money for 'glitches' that kept them from winning.
